The National Agricultural Law Center at the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture was established by Congress in 1987 as a federally funded institution to provide independent legal research on agricultural matters. The NALC’s scope of coverage includes food law. Harrison Pittman, the director of the NALC, is also a faculty member at the UA Center for Food Safety, which cooperates with the NALC in research and educational endeavors.
